ASCENSEURS DE STREPY-THIEU
Spectacle son et lumière - lieu industriel
2012 - Salle des contrepoids — Ascenseurs hydrauliques de Strepy-Thieu

Few artists can boast of having performed with a symphony orchestra in a 100-metre-high concrete cathedral. The counterweight room of the Strepy-Thieu hydraulic lifts is not a concert hall, it is an extraordinary industrial monument, with massive reverb and giant counterweights rising and falling with the infrastructure's rhythm. Eric Bettens integrated these movements into the show, illuminated them, made them performers in their own right. A colossal technical challenge for the sound engineers, and a unique experience for the 200 spectators who lived through this improbable night of electronic music, symphony orchestra, lasers and industrial engineering.
